Sodium–hydrogen exchanger 2, also called SLC9A2 or NHE2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SLC9A2 gene. This gene is mapped to 2q12.1. The Na+/H+ exchangers (NHE) are membrane proteins involved in cell volume. The exchanger (which they called NHE2) is found in several tissues, including intestine and kidney, and is highly expressed in villus and distal convoluted tubules. This gene is involved in pH regulation to eliminate acids generated by active metabolism or to counter adverse environmental conditions. It seems to play an important role in colonic sodium absorption.

Applications
Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions
Western Blot (rat): 0.1-0.5ug/ml Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin) (human, rat): 0.5-1ug/ml. Boiling the paraffin sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6 for 20 minutes is required for the staining of formalin/paraffin sections. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to aa666-684, RYLSLPKNTKLPEKLQKRR at the C-terminus of human SLC9A2. Species Sequence Homology: mouse
Form
Supplied as a lyophilized powder from PBS, 5% BSA, 0.05% sodium azide, 0.05% thimerosal. Reconstitute with 200ul sterile ddH2O.
Purity
Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes human SLC9A2. Species Crossreactivity: rat. No crossreactivity with other proteins.
