Nuclear phosphoprotein which forms a tight but non-covalently linked complex with the JUN/AP-1 transcription factor. Has a critical function in regulating the development of cells destined to form and maintain the skeleton. It is thought to have an important role in signal transduction, cell proliferation and differentiation. C-fos expression increases upon a variety of stimuli, including growth factors, cytokines, neurotransmitters, polypeptide hormones, stress and cell injury. Belongs to the bZIP family. Fos subfamily.

Applications
Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested.
Subcellular Localization: Nucleus.
Recommended Dilution
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide (MFSGFNADYEASSSRC; aa 2-17) conjugated to diphtheria toxoid
Form
Supplied as a lyophilized powder. Reconstitute in 50ul of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
Purity
Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes c-fos. Species Crossreactivity: rat, rabbit, and hamster. Peptide Sequence Homology: human, mouse, rat, hamster and cat
