Human CD235a (glycophorin A) is a sialoglycoprotein expressed early on the cell surface during erythropoiesis as pluripotent stem cells are recruited to differentiate into erythrocytes (1). CD235a (gycophorin A) is a useful marker to study the developmental biology of hematopoietic progenitor cells (2,3).

Applications
Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Flow Cytometry Protocol
1. Ten x 10e5 human red blood cells were washed and preincubated 5 minutes with 20ul of 250ug/ml human IgG (to block non-specific binding). 2. Cells were then incubated 45 minutes on ice with 80ul of C2548-98D1 at a dilution 10ug/ml. 3. Cells were washed two times and incubated with I1904-06F: IgG, H&L (FITC) (X-Adsorbed) Pab Gt xMo 4. Cells washed three times, fixed and analyzed by FACS. 5. Cells stained positive with a mean shift of 0.9 log10 fluorescent units when compared to I1905-26C IgM Murine Negative Control at a similar concentration.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Neuraminidase treated human erythrocytes.
Form
Supplied as a liquid in 50mM sodium Pposphate pH 7.5, 500mM potassium chloride, 150mM NaCl, 0.5 mg/ml gentamicin sulfate.
Purity
Purified immunoglobulin (95%) using size exclusion chromatography
Specificity
Reacts with an extracellular (peptide) domain of CD235a (glycophorin A).
