Cefpodoxime acid is an oral prodrug that is converted to its active form, cefpodoxime, in the gastrointestinal tract. Cefpodoxime acid is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with a broad spectrum of activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
