Detection of thermophilic, aerobic organisms in foods.
Description
Dextrose Tryptone Agar is recommended for the determination of mesophilic and thermophilic bacteria in sweetening agents used in frozen desserts. Bromcresol purple is used as a pH indicator. When isolating thermophilic bacteria use 55°C as a plating temperature.
Storage and Stability
Store powdered media at 4°C. Opened bottles should be capped tightly. Protect it from moisture and light. Prepared media should be kept at 4°C and used within a short period of time.
Appearance
Light greenish-beige, homogeneous, free flowing powder.
Solubility
Purple, clear to turbid.

Directions
1. Dissolve 30grams per liter of distilled/ deionized (DDI) water, heating with stirring until completely solubilized.
2. Dispense into appropriate containers, loosen caps and autoclave for 15 minutes at 121ºC (15psi)
