Inositol Assay Medium is used for determining inositol concentration by the microbiological assay technique. A modification of the formula described by Atkin et al.,1 is used in the microbiological assay of inositol using Saccharomyces cerevisiae ATCCTM 9080 (Saccharomyces uvarum) as the test organism.

Colorless to slightly yellow, clear, complete
Directions per Liter
Dissolve 12.2g in 100ml of ddH2O stirring with heat. Boil for 1 minute until completely solubilized. Dispense 5ml amounts into tubes. Add standard or test samples. Adjust tube volume to 10ml. Autoclave at 121°C for 5 minutes. See Difco Manual for more directions.
Storage and Stability
Store powdered media at 4ºC. Stable for 12 months after receipt. Opened bottles should be capped tightly and kept in a dark, low humidity environment. Prepared media should be kept at 4°C and used within a short period of time.
