Integrins are a large family of transmembrane proteins composed of an alpha and beta component. Integrins are involved in a diversity of biological functions such as cell adhesion, structure, differentiation, apoptosis and cell proliferation. They are the principal cell surface receptors that recognize cell to matrix interactions, but little is known about the expression of beta 1 integrin family on airway smooth muscle (ASM) and their involvement in proliferation. This is a contributing factor in structural changes seen in asthma.
Applications
Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Not suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended Dilutions
Flow Cytometry: Effective for all species tested. Immunohistochemistry: Acetone fixation. Effective for rabbit, rat, monkey and human. Not suitable for use on mouse tissue. Immunocytochemistry: Effective for F6, HT-29, H441 cell lines. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Immunization of beta6 knockout mice with recombinant secreted human alphaVbeta6. Epitope: Unknown whether the epitope recognized by the antibody localizes to the alphaVbeta6 heterodimer or to the beta6 subunit only.
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.1. No preservatives added.
Specificity
Recognizes human Integrin alphaVbeta6. Does not recognize the alphaV subunit. Does not recognize alphaV integrins other than alphaVbeta6. Species Crossreactivity: rabbit, rat, monkey, mouse (not IHC).
