Mitogen- and stress-activated protein kinase 1 (MSK1), also known as ribosomal protein S6 kinase 5 (RPS6KA5), belongs to the AGC family of kinases. Both MSK1 and the related MSK2/RSKB have two kinase domains connected by a regulatory linker region, and are activated by the mitogen-activated protein kinases ERK1, ERK2, and p38. Nuclear MSK phosphorylates and activates a number of transcription factors, including ATF1 and CREB.
Applications
Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Western Blot: 1ug/ml. Detects endogenous human and mouse MSK1 at 95kD. Immunocytochemistry: 2-15ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Immunogen
Recombinant protein corresponding to human MSK1 (aa1-802) from E. coli.
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2, 5% trehalose.
Purity
Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
Specificity
Detects endogenous human and mouse MSK1 at 95kD. Does not detect rhMSK2.
