Shigella sp. are non-spore forming, rod shaped bacteria, the causitive agent of Shigellosis in man. The genus is closely related to Escherichia coli and Salmonella.
Applications
Suitable for use in ELISA, Fluorescence Microscopy, Western Blot and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Labeled with horseradish peroxidase (HRP). Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates. HRP conjugates are sensitive to light.
Immunogen
Mixture of S. boydii, S. flexneri and S. dysenteriae
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2, 10mg/ml BSA, 0.002% thimerosal. Labeled with HRP.
Purity
Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography.
Specificity
Polyvalent for Shigella antigens. Antiserum is unabsorbed and does crossreact with related Enterobacteriaceae.
